ReportOUT has called out the new guidance on the Equality Act as being discriminatory to the Trans community, warning that “enforcing access to necessary spaces based on ‘biological sex’ can pressure people to disclose private information or even expose transgender people to hostile confrontation.”

At ReportOUT, we are continuing to closely monitor recent developments in Botswana following the government’s notice on 27th April 2026 to amend the Penal Code, as it stated that same sex couples were prohibited from engaging in sexual acts such as anal or oral sexual intercourse.

On the 11th of April 2026, several people were attacked and assaulted in the Shahbagh district of Dhaka, the country's capital city. Throughout the group of attackers, homophobic slurs and hate speech were chanted, with victims being targeted because they were assumed to be ‘queer’.

The Indian Transgender Persons (Amendment) Bill 2026 seeks to replace the right to self-identification on mandatory medical assessments and district-level screening processes. It also introduces a narrowed and exclusionary definition of transgender identity, effectively erasing recognition of trans men and non-binary persons.
