We warmly welcome our new Patron at ReportOUT! Hot off celebrating his success at winning Mr Gay World, and also, being the first time the United Kingdom has won in ten years!

The twelve finalists hailed from Chile, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Italy, the Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Switzerland, and Thailand. Mr Gay World is not a simple beauty pageant and in fact, former titleholders have used their voices to address various LGBTQI+ issues close to their hearts, such as political, social, and economic dissonance, issues on LGBTQIA+ community healthcare, homelessness, and mental health.

Paul has joined us at ReportOUT to raise awareness of the issues facing sexual and gender minorities across the globe, as well as his own activism in transgender healthcare.

Welcome to ReportOUT as our new Patron! What attracted you to want to be a Patron of our organisation?

Thank you so much for the welcome! I was drawn to ReportOUT because of its unwavering commitment to supporting the rights and wellbeing of the LGBTQI+ community worldwide, especially in places where people’s rights and identities are at risk. The opportunity to work with a team dedicated to real change, advocacy, and bringing awareness to global issues affecting the LGBTQI+ community is incredibly motivating. I see ReportOUT as a beacon of hope and resilience, and I'm honored to lend my voice to amplify its mission.

Tell us about your background, let us know more about you…

I have a background in nursing, with over 20 years of experience in healthcare, and nearly a decade dedicated specifically to trans healthcare. Over the years, I've chaired the LGBT+ network at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, which has helped me connect with and advocate for LGBTQI+ staff and patients alike. I currently work with the GenderPlus hormone clinic, where we provide care for transgender and non-binary individuals in a nurse-led, patient-focused environment. My professional and personal experiences have shaped my deep commitment to fostering safe, inclusive spaces and advocating for LGBTQI+ rights and healthcare access.

And you have won Mr. Gay World! Tell us more about this amazing achievement, what does this mean to you?

Winning Mr. Gay World was an incredible experience and truly a milestone for me. For me, the title isn’t just a personal achievement; it’s a platform to inspire and bring visibility to LGBTQI+ issues on a larger scale. It’s about using this role to shine a light on our collective struggles and triumphs and being part of a movement that fights for dignity, equality, and respect for all. This title means I have the chance to help shape the future for LGBTQI+ people globally, and it reminds me every day of the importance of representation and advocacy.

How do you plan to use your role as Patron of ReportOUT?

As Patron, I plan to leverage my platform and networks to raise awareness of ReportOUT's work, particularly around issues that may be less visible or understood by the broader public.  This role is a chance for me to bridge communities, support meaningful dialogue, and champion ReportOUT’s mission in every way I can.

Thank you for being our ambassador Paul, it is an honour to have you with us!
