About the session
Richard’s session will take a look at the impact that LGBTQ+ leaders and teachers in schools have on ensuring inclusive environments where LGBTQ+ young people can thrive. Through an exploration of his own research and the wider literature on the impact of LGBTQ+ staff, Richard will take participants through the impact LGBTQ+ staff can have on curriculum, policies and pastoral support. The workshop format, will enable delegates to discuss how we can work to enable LGBTQ+ school staff to have a positive impact on the LGBTQ+ young people that they serve.
About the speaker
Richard works as an Assistant Principal across The Education Alliance in Yorkshire. Alongside has recently completed an MBA in Educational Leadership. Richard is working towards a PhD at The University of Derby. The MBA dissertation focused on the experiences and impact of LGBTQ+ leaders in UK secondary schools with deeper exploration in the PhD thesis and explores career progression for LGBTQ+ teachers through an intersectional lens.
