About the event

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is rarely used by the LGBTQ+ community in the U.S. as a platform from which to advance their rights.  Join queering human rights expert and Chair of ReportOUT, Drew Dalton, as he walks us though a UDHR primer.

We will cover:

  • The history and development of human rights ideology
  • The role of United States leaders in the formulation of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • The differences between civil right and human rights
  • The reality of LGBTQ+ human rights and how adopting this lens can make a difference in the US and globally.

Host and ReportOUT Trustee for North America, Dr. Kelly Clark,  will lead a rich discussion with participants following the presentation.

This session is designed for professionals from LGBTQ centers, other LGBTQ serving organizations, grassroots organizers, affirming religious organizations, and anyone who is concerned for the future of LGBTQ+ people in the USA.

Come try on a new lens from which to see our work!
