Course overview
This six-month course is built by leaders and campaigners, for the next generation of leaders and change-makers. Delivered by ReportOUT, the LGBTQI+ Leadership, Advocacy and Campaigner Training is designed in two distinct phases: first, to develop strong, reflective leaders, and then to equip them with the tools to drive impactful campaigns and advocacy.
In the first phase of the programme, participants are grounded in leadership. This includes exploring leadership theories, styles, and approaches, alongside developing self-awareness, confidence, and the ability to lead in complex and often challenging environments.
The second phase moves from leadership into action. Drawing on frameworks from human rights, sociology and political theory, and social movements, learners build a strong analytical foundation to understand power, inequality, populism, and global politics. Participants will then apply their knowledge through hands-on training in campaigning and advocacy, learning how to design and deliver strategic campaigns that create real social and political change. This includes campaign planning, theory of change, messaging, coalition-building, media engagement, creative and traditional tactics, and navigating risk and backlash.
We do not separate thinking from action. Throughout the course, theory and practice are brought together through practical exercises, simulations, and project-based learning. Participants will work on live or simulated campaigns, receive feedback from experienced advocates, and develop both the intellectual tools to analyse injustice and the practical skills to challenge it.
This is an applied course with depth, equipping participants not just to understand the world, but to change it. If you are ready to lead with purpose, organise power, and drive meaningful change, we know how to lead and campaign, and we can teach you.
