Our Trustees:

Our Trustees are the lifeblood of ReportOUT. Our Trustees are based in the United Kingdom and other nation states, such as Nigeria, Pakistan, Spain, Iraq, Japan and Trinidad and Tobago. Between our team of Trustees, we speak over 15 different languages from Turkish, Portuguese, South Korean, Igbo, Bengali, Urdu and Arabic. We believe in being representative of our communities and so our Trustees self-identify from a range of SOGI identities.

Chair of Trustees: Drew Dalton (He/Him) United Kingdom

With almost 20 years experience within the charity and volunteer sector, and a background in human rights, teaching and campaigning, Drew is the Chair and founder of ReportOUT. Drew has managed organisations dedicated to highlighting queer histories, working with SOGI Muslims and queer human rights, alongside his work in education.

Trustee: Jodie Weatherston (She/Her) United Kingdom

Jodie is a human and women’s rights researcher and activist. After studying for an MSc International Development and with a Social Sciences degree background, she brings a mix of her experience of development work in Kenya, supporting refugees in the U.K. and of coordinating research projects exploring fair trade, gender roles in Tanzania, child marriage and FGM.

Trustee: Suzanne Butler (She/Her) United Kingdom

Suzanne has a background in business. She now volunteers with organisations that work in child poverty and social issues which includes international volunteering. She is passionate about human rights, equality and social justice.

Trustee: Amyrah (She/Her) United Kingdom

Amyrah is a volunteer for multiple SOGI initiatives, including Hidayah and another that's focused on peer support for trans individuals. In addition to her role at a large financial services provider, she is involved in leading & supporting on various initiatives around SOGI inclusivity. Her background is in data analysis and technology.

Trustee: Tom Obokata (He/Him) Japan/United Kingdom

Tom Obokata is Professor of International Law and Human Rights. His main research interests are the human rights dimension arising from crime and criminal justice, most notably transnational organised crime. He has published widely on human trafficking and international law in books and journals. Tom worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Regional Office of Japan and the Republic of Korea and he regularly provides expert evidence to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.

Trustee: Kyuhan Shin (He/Him) South Korea

Kyu is South Korean and has been involved in a number of SOGI organisations and activities with UN-Globe and ILGA ASIA. These experiences have taught him the importance of family and inclusion, especially for the SOGI community. 

Trustee: Salman Khan (He/Him or She/Her) Pakistan

Salman Khan is a journalist and the founder of 'Queeristan,' Pakistan's first SOGI magazine and e-collective for gender and sexual minorities in the country. Through Queeristan, they are working toward creating safe digital spaces where Pakistan’s SOGI community can express its pride, empower SOGI youth and challenge stereotypes by advocating for SOGI rights in the country. Trustee: Chris Samba (He/Him) Caribbean

Chris is a PhD Student in Law and public Policy, focusing on gender policy within the Caribbean region. Chris is passionate about social justice and committed to change

Trustee: Matthew Blaise (He/Him) Nigeria

Matthew Blaise is a poet who dreams of butterflies, and writes to emancipate himself through poetry. He volunteers for a Queernaija in Nigeria, and through his writings, he brings out the reality of queer people in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Trustee: David Larbi (He/Him) Ghana
David is a passionate human rights activist. He is currently working with an organisation called 'Eliminating Barriers for the Liberation of Africa' and he volunteers for LGBT+ Rights Ghana. He firmly believes that the essence of life, is life itself and all the basics that go with it. Laws are made by people for people and should not be biased in any way that leads to discrimination (especially discrimination on the base of a person's gender identity or sexual orientation).

Trustee: Hazan Kahrizi (He/Him) Germany/Iraq

A human rights activist and defender for more than 15 years, an Iraqi and resident of Germany, Hazan, holds a Master's degree in Languages ​​and Cultural Diversity and a training certificate from the European Academy on Human Rights in Diversity. He has participated in many courses in the field of human rights, as a trainee first and then as a coach. Hazan is also a journalist and author of several articles on human rights and sexual orientation. In 2014, He founded the organisation 'Alwan' in East and North Africa, the first ever monitoring and documentation organisation in the entire Middle East and North Africa region for SOGI people. Trustee: Suleyman Matos (He/Him) Spain

Suleyman is a secondary education teacher and artist based in Galicia, Spain. His former experience in International Trade took him to Turkey 20 years ago. It was then when his relationship with Islam and Turkey started. He has studied ebru painting in Istanbul and currently devotes a great part of his efforts to translating Turkish literature. He has cooperated with webislam.com, website of Junta Islámica de España, with his articles through the past years and is committed with the reconciliation of Islam and SOGI rights.
